Sudesna Roy
Associate Professor
Dr. Sudesna Roy has over 14 years of post PhD experience in research and teaching. During her tenure in KIIT she has taught undergraduate as well and graduate classes in manufacturing processes, materials science, fatigue, fracture and materials engineering. She was the recipient of the DST women scientist award in 2015 and has also received an external grant from DST, SERB in 2017. Recently she is the principal investigator leading the DST FIST Level 1 project for School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT University. She has published several papers in reputed journals and presented in many national and international conferences. Here research interest is currently in the area of coatings, i.e thin film deposition, cold spraying and thermal spraying. She has worked extensively in the area of magnetron sputtering, transparent oxide ceramics, optical materials, rare earth oxides, thermal spraying and alloy solidification modeling. She completed her doctoral degree from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts and post-doctoral experience at Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA for a tenure of 3 yrs. Her educational background comprises of a B.Tech degree in Ceramic Engineering from N.I.T. Rourkela and M.Tech degree in Metallurgy from I.I.T. Kharagpur.
