KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering organized an industrial visit to the Carriage Repair Workshop at Mancheswar under Indian Railways on31.08.2024 . Around 40 students participated in the visit, where they explored various facilities and manufacturing setups, including the hydraulic shearing facility, the Wheel Shop, painting activities, carriage body repairing, the trimming shop, a bio-gas plant, the air-brake section, alternator section, light shop, bogie repair workshop, fitting line, gas welding and cutting areas, and overhead crane operations. The students were accompanied by Dr. Abhilas Swain, Dr. Amlan Panda, and Ms. Sasmita Jena.
This industrial visit provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the various processes involved in railway carriage repair and maintenance. By exploring these diverse facilities, students gained practical insights into real-world engineering applications, significantly enhancing their technical knowledge and understanding of industrial operations.
