KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering conducted a talk under the ‘Alumni Talk Series’ on 5th October 2025 in collaboration with the KIIT Alumni Association. In this webinar, Mr. Shubham Pandey a KIIT alumnus of 2018 batch, presently working as Deputy Manager at IA Karam Chand Thapar & Bros in Coal Sales, Kolkata presented his talk.
Mr. Pandey delivered a talk on ” Unlocking Opportunities: Exploring career paths after mechanical engineering”. In this talk he explained that mechanical engineering is a highly versatile discipline that offers opportunities across both core and non-core sectors. He highlighted traditional career paths such as design, manufacturing, automotive, and thermal engineering, while also emphasizing emerging options in areas like data analytics, supply chain management, consulting, renewable energy, and automation. The speaker discussed the importance of higher studies, research, and management programs as viable pathways for career growth. He concluded by stressing the need for continuous skill development, practical exposure, and adaptability to successfully navigate and unlock diverse career opportunities after mechanical engineering. He praised the alumni connect initiative, emphasizing its importance in enhancing both the personal and professional lives of alumni.
The talk followed a thorough question-answer session. Prof. Ruby Mishra, Prof. M. Ukkamanal and Prof. B.C. Routray interacted with students and alumni. Few students also participated in the interactive session. This event is a stepping stone to more such sessions in the future, which will help bring together the student and alumni community for the University and the School. The session was coordinated and moderated by Prof. Prakash Ghose, Alumni Coordinator.
