Purna Chandra Mishra

Professor & Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Academics)

Prof. (Dr.) Purna Chandra Mishra was born in Rayagada District, Odisha, India, in 1980. He received the B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Berhampur University, Berhampur, Odisha, India, in 2001, M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, in 2006 and 2011, respectively. In 2001, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, GIET University, Gunupur as a Lecturer, and in 2004 became an Assistant Professor. Since September 2006, he has been with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jadavpur University as Research Scientist of BRNS and National Doctoral Fellow of AICTE. Currently, he is working with the School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar as a Professor and Dean (Research). He occupied important positions like University Academic Council member from 2010 to 2014, Convener of Board of Studies (BoS) since 2014, Associate Dean of School of Mechanical Engineering since 2014, Convener of AICTE-MHRD IIC since 2017 and Zonal Coordinator for AICTE-NDF Scheme since 2018. His current research interests include Impingement heat transfer, thermal systems design and optimization, biofuels and renewable energy, nuclear fuels, nanofluidics, microfluidics, smart/energy materials and composite materials. Dr. Mishra is a member of the Indian National Academy of Engineering; the National Academy of Science, India; the Institution of Engineers (India); and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), ASME, SAE and Combustion Institute (India). Dr. Mishra has published more than 100 research articles in Journals of International repute, supervised 10 PhD theses, 23 Masters theses and published 14 national/international patents. His multi- disciplinary research interests are medical imaging and dental implants technology. Dr. Mishra has been reviewer board member with several Elsevier Journals, Springer Journals and Taylor and Francis Journals. He was the Co-Chair of the ICAMME-2019 and ICAMPD-2019 held in KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar. He was the chief-editor of the book titled “Advances in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering” and “Advances in Mechanical Processing and Design”, Lecture notes in Mechanical Engineering, Springer Nature. He was the recipient of the “Best Faculty of the year 2014” of the KIIT University in 2015 and the “Best Young Researcher Award” of ISRD in 2017.
