Tutor Mentor’s Activities
School of Mechanical Engineering (SME) is engaged in Tutor-mentoring activity for its students which is an unique platform for students to acquire not only academic and professional skills but they can interact and network to acquire help for other personal problems. We at SME understand that a student when he/she leaves their homes for an engineering degree undergoes a myriad of changes both interpersonally as well as professionally. Our tutor-mentor interaction program attaches each student to a faculty member, who helps, guides and nurtures the students at KIIT through regular interactive sessions with both students as well as their local guardians and parents. This helps parents and students utilize the numerous resources at KIIT effective, placement opportunities, career plans, coaching requirements, hostel issues, medical emergencies, even apprehend and arrest any behavioural and academic concerns, etc.
Student’s Interaction
The second Saturday of every month is practiced as the tutor-mentor day in which the students are required to meet and discuss their progress and problems with their tutor-mentors. The girls students are provided with female faculty members who visit their them at their hostels and interact freely with them. The international students are also associated with separate tutor-mentors who can relate and address their issues immediately. Students with history of drug abuse, violence, alcoholism and psychiatric issues are managed more intensely and minute with the help of this program.

I feel extremely privileged to be associated with such an esteemed organisation such as KIIT University, where students are enabled to innovate on their own and create achievable milestones with the support and guidance of its extremely talented and experienced faculty and staff. The ambience that the School of Mechanical Engineering has provided and helped me to create a strong and a structured foundational base about the subjects that were taught. The curriculum is well defined and according to industry standards as well. I am extremely thankful for my tutor-mentor who always stood by my side.
KIIT SME is a classic branch with full of opportunities, be it from academic point of view or placement. Abundance of societies and inter-branch projects makes the learning even more interesting. The teachers are always there to help you on and off duty and mentors are not only your guides, teachers but also your friend. The ways of teaching is enough to make one fall in love with the machines. Although in my job I don’t get to use the technical learnings of mechanical in day to day basis, but those 4 years have shaped me into who I am today as a person.
Studying at KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering was an experience of a lifetime. The quality of teaching induced a knowledge seeking approach in us. My four years of engineering couldn’t have been better for the exposure I got was immense. Finally, through the various training programs, the T&P made sure that we were best prepared for the future. Not to forget the constant support, mentoring and hand-holding we received from our Tutor mentors during this period.
At KIIT-SME, the state-of-the-art infrastructure accompanied by the highly experienced and supportive faculties created a learner centric environment where I developed both technical and soft skills. The one-on-one mentoring sessions with my mentor helped me choose the right career direction. I would also like to express my gratitude to the TnP cell for their constant support and encouragement. The multiple pre-placement workshops conducted in the form of mock GDs and interviews boosted my self-confidence and allowed me to put my best foot forward on the D-day.
My heartiest gratitude to KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering and my all expert faculties whose support and trust helped me to achieve my goal. As a student I was encouraged to explore new things and utilize my knowledge. Special thanks to KIIT Training and Placement personnel for their consistent support in the campus recruitment process.

I was a student of KIIT Mechanical engineering (2015-2019) batch. Currently I am working in Keyence India Pvt Ltd. My mentor has always been very cooperative and helpful in terms of academic as well as non-academic activities. He has always provided me the right mentorship, not only to me, but to all the students of our class. Personally I have worked with him for many projects and research papers, and he has always been a great guide to me. I’m glad to have him as my mentor, even till today, and grateful for all the contributions he has added to my life.

My mentor has played a key role in supporting me throughout my journey. He groomed me to be a sound professional and made it an interesting and engaging experience. I still remember visiting him at odd hours regarding my trivial queries. Not only he has been a great mentor to me, but has taught me how to mentor other people. I was a student of B.Tech (2017-2021) batch. I am grateful to have such an excellent experience of the Mentor-Mentee programme at SME. I am currently engaged as a Deputy Manager in ICICI Bank. I am very grateful to my mentor for always guiding me and inspiring me to think in positive way. I am lucky that my mentor allowed me to analyse my own weakness and worked with me to overcome this. Apart from the academic issue he also helped me to solve the personal issue like a local guardian and learned me how to survive in every field in every situation.
